The collection also contains correspondence from William King Meadow during his World War I service in France, correspondence from Berry T. Moseley of Danielsville (Ga.) mainly to Meadow regarding legal activities; materials relating to Albert Tifton's activities as an agent with the Internal Revenue Service; and cash books, receipts, and check stubs for the firm of Shackleford and Meadow. The collection consists of the papers of the Branch family of Savannah, Georgia from 1830-1961. The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence between Charlotte Sawyer Branch and her sons John L., Sanford W., and Hamilton McDevil Branch, who served mainly in the 8th Georgia Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. The letters describe the 1st Battle of Bull Run, the death of John, the subsequent capture of Sanford (who had stayed with his dying brother), the Seven Days Battle, the 2nd Battle of Bull Run, and the Battle of Gettysburg, where Sanford was wounded and captured again. Hamilton transferred to the 54th Georgia Infantry Regiment and writes about the regiment's involvement in the Atlanta Campaign, particularly the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. He also writes from Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee while serving with Nathan Bedford Forrest.

The papers include correspondence, legal documents, genealogical materials, clippings, as well as speeches and writings of William Harden. The bulk of the collection (1844-1936) consists of correspondence to William Harden or Judge Edward J. Harden. Letters to William Harden pertain to Georgia history and family genealogy as well as letters documenting Harden's duties as Secretary of the Sons of the Revolution (Savannah, Ga.) and as Librarian for the Georgia Historical Society (Savannah, Ga.). Correspondence to Judge Edward Jenkins Harden discusses Georgia politics and law cases. Notable correspondents include Joseph Henry Lumpkin, Charles Colcock Jones, Jr., and Caroline Miller. Also includes correspondence of other family members including John Maxwell Harden, Edward T. Harden, and Ann Harden Morse. Of particular interest, are a series of letters (1826-1857, with gaps) from George Michael Troup to Dr. W.C. Daniels of Savannah (Ga.).
